Ellipse (1991)
Ellipse is the first ‘video dance’ made by Katrina McPherson.
It was made with Glasgow-based Randomoptic Pick Up Company (1989- 1993), which Katrina and Vanessa Smith co-founded with Karen Grant.
Ellipse was both a single screen work and as the video component of a live performance for dancer and ‘video piano’, conceived and directed by Katrina, danced by Vanessa Smith, with piano composition and performance by Annie Gillespie.
Katrina filmed and edited Ellipse on SVHS.
Ellipse with video piano was performed as a live work at the Robin Howard Theatre, Scottish Ballet, Glasgow, in 1991.
